Individual Psychotherapy:  Growth and Grief

Sometimes it just helps to talk out the problems of life.  Many of my clients have life-altering disease or disablement.  Grief and the challenge of aloneness due to the loss of a loved one are deep issues to be encountered in a compassionate caring manner.  Individuals often need to know where they are going in life and are looking for direction and meaning.

Couples Counseling

I work with all couples and especially focus on preservation of the relationship. If at all possible, I work primarily with both partners together in session, seeking to restore understanding and communication.  My counseling is brief, short-term, solution-focused and practical.  I offer several scales to aid in our work.

Depression/ Anxiety/ Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Assessment and treatment of Depression and Anxiety is a special interest in my work.  PTSD and the results of trauma  are  tremendous problems in many cases.  If medication is necessitated, I partner with medical professionals in the community.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Companies and organizations often rely on me to help with their employees who have short-term problems relating to marriage, work issues, depression, drug or alcohol abuse, and other issues that arise in the workplace.

"Child With Family" Counseling

I don't work with children under the age of 13.  I work best with adolescents in a family context.  I start with the family and work with the parents in dealing with the child. The parents have the ability to "listen in" on my individual sessions with the child, and I use them as co-therapists with me in helping the young clients.

Often these issues are related to divorce and remarriage issues of the parents and how their children are relating and adjusting.

 ADOLESCENT COUNSELING

I often see young people around issues related to their lives in school, with their peers, with parent/child relationships, or with depression and anxiety.

Christian Counseling

Often Christians seek me out for specific spiritual direction and guidance. I offer prayer with and for these clients and use the Bible to direct them in asking God's help for their problems. As a minister and pastoral counselor I have seen the power than God's Holy Spirit can have in the lives of those who call upon Him for help.
